Creating a unique set of icons for an Android application in Ubuntu

October 12th, 2014 No comments

I am looking at creating a set of icons for an Android application. First step will be to produce an original icon definition in 2D by following the instructions in this tutorial

http://en.flossmanuals.net/inkscape/tutorials/creating-icons/

The second part will be using Android’s Asset Studio to create an icon set

August 4th, 2014 No comments

I wanted a quick onscreen keyboard for an Xubuntu system that had a faulty keyboard (I only had a mouse).

Here are the steps to set up under Xubuntu Precise.

  • From the command line,  add the ‘florence’ package ppa
 sudo add-apt-repository ppa:jools/joggler
  • update package repository information
sudo apt-get update
  •  Install the Florence virtual keyboard
sudo apt-get install florence

Missing mscorlib.dll for a simple WinForms application in Lubuntu Raring 13.04

I wanted to execute the DownloadSVN.exe application from Linux but received the following error:

The assembly mscorlib.dll was not found or could not be loaded. The assembly mscorlib.dll was not found or could not be loaded.
It should have been installed in the ‘/usr/lib/mono/2.0/mscorlib.dll’ directory.

This means that there are some components missing from the default installation of  Mono in Lubuntu. All I can see at ./usr/lib/mono/  are the gac and 4.0 folders.

I could have possibly recompiled the application, but instead, I decided to install the missing packages.

From the command line:

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get install  mono-complete

This is a 37Mb installation and it creates the required 2.0 folder.
